At McIntosh
Bancshares, Inc. (MBI), the basis of each customer relationship, many of which span generations,
is trust. You have chosen to do business with MBI, and we are obligated to honor that
relationship with great care, beginning with the information you have chosen to share with us.
We believe that your privacy should not be compromised. At the same time, we want to offer you
the array of financial products and services you need to accomplish your financial goals. We
believe we can do both through the privacy policy outlined below.
At MBI, we believe the confidentiality and protection of customer information is one of our
fundamental responsibilities. And while information is critical to providing quality service, we
recognize that one of our most important assets is our customers’ trust. Thus, the safekeeping
of customer information is a priority for MBI.
We collect, retain, and use information about you only where we reasonably believe that it will
help administer our business or provide products, services, and other opportunities to you. We
collect and retain information about you only for specific business purposes – and we will tell
you why we are collecting and retaining it upon your request. We use information to protect and
administer your records, accounts and funds; to comply with certain laws and regulations; to
help us design or improve our products and services; and to understand your financial needs so
that we can provide you with quality products and superior service. Our Use of Information
provisions explain these concepts in greater detail.
We continually strive to maintain complete and accurate information about you and your accounts.
Should you ever believe that our records contain inaccurate or incomplete information about you,
please notify us. We will investigate your concerns and correct any inaccuracies.
At MBI, employee access to personally identifiable customer information is limited to those with
a business reason to know such information. Employees are educated on the importance of
maintaining the confidentiality of customer information and on these Privacy Principles. Because
of the importance of these issues, all MBI employees are responsible for maintaining the
confidentiality of customer information; and employees who violate these Privacy Principles will
be subject to disciplinary measures.
We safeguard information according to established security standards and procedures, and we
continually assess new technology for protecting information. Our employees are trained to
understand and comply with these information principles.
We do not reveal specific information about your accounts or other personally identifiable data
to parties outside our affiliated banks and companies for their independent use unless: 1) you
request or authorize it; 2) the information is provided to help complete a transaction initiated
by you; 3) the information is provided to a reputable credit bureau or similar information
reporting agency; or 4) the disclosure otherwise is lawfully permitted or required. We do not
provide account or personal information to non MBI companies for the purpose of independent
telemarketing or direct mail marketing of any non-financial products or services of those
companies.
When the Bank conducts business with third parties, it requires its vendors and suppliers to
maintain similar standards of conduct regarding the privacy of personally identifiable customer
information provided to them.
MBI recognizes and respects the privacy expectations of our customers. We want our customers to
understand our commitment to privacy in our use of customer information. As a result of our
commitment, we have developed these Privacy Principles which are made readily available to our
customers. A privacy disclosure will be sent to all MBI Customers at least once each calendar
year, and prior to the implementation of any significant change in customer privacy policies and
practices. These disclosures will also be provided to all new customers of MBI when they become
customers and to others upon request. Customers who have questions about these Privacy
Principles or have a question about the privacy of their customer information should contact us
at 770-775-8324 or

More on Security
User ID and PIN
One way that you and your bank information is protected is by your selected user ID and PIN.
Be sure to keep them confidential. Memorize them, or keep a written record of them if you need,
but please be sure not to store this in your wallet or near your computer. We require that your
ID be 6-10 characters consisting of letters and numbers and that your PIN be 4-19 letters,
numbers and special characters. You'll be prompted every 180 days to change your PIN. We take
all precautions available to us when setting your ID and PIN parameters so they are not easily
guessed by others.
Always be sure to end your session (log off) when you've completed your banking or your when
your computer will be unattended.
Browsers and Encryption
Another security measure resides in your browser. Microsoft's Internet Explorer, Netscape
Navigator or AOL are all examples of secure browsers. Our Online Banking system allows only
those browsers that are 128-bit encrypted. Currently, there are two types of browsers available
to consumers, 40-bit and 128-bit encrypted. Encryption is the actual turning of letters and
numbers into a coded language that can only be read by the sender and receiver. Once your
internet banking
session has been established through the use of your ID and PIN, you are
operating in a
secured environment. Because internet banking is 128-bit secured by
Equifax, data
traveling between you and the bank is encrypted with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. With
SSL, data traveling between you and us is encrypted and can only be decrypted by you or us.
Router and Firewall
Our computer system does not connect directly to the Internet. It is isolated from the Internet
via routers, filters and a firewall. Filtering routers verify the source and destination
of each transaction. Firewalls shield the bank's customer service network from outside sources.
Through these systems, account information is protected from outside access and the bank's
internal network is invisible to outside parties.
How to Protect Your Information
Protect your user ID and PIN. This is one of the most important things that you can do to secure
you and your transactions. Only you should know what your ID and PIN are.
-
Memorize your ID and PIN
-
Don't share your ID or PIN with anyone
-
Make sure that no one is watching what ID and PIN you are typing when logging in
-
Change your PIN often
-
Don't choose PINs that are easily guessed, such as birthdays, anniversaries or pet names
-
Always remember to end your user session (log off) when you are finished or will be leaving
your computer.
